Nation's Gun Show
Next Show: April 21, 22 & 23, 2017
NRA Firearm Museum - Christopher Spencer
The National Firearms Museum will be honoring one of America's lesser known arms inventors, Christopher Spencer. Creating what came to be known as the "Yankee horizontal shot tower," Spencer received contracts for hundreds of thousands of rifles and carbines during the American Civil War. These 7-shot repeating breechloaders were among the most popular Union issued cavalry and infantry arms. Spencer later developed an early semi-automatic shotgun, the Roper - the first smoothbore with screw-in chokes.
Our exhibition will tell the story of Christopher Spencer, an amazing Civil War era designer who also lived long enough into the 20th century to learn how to fly an airplane!
Our museum galleries are free admission daily and thousands of great historical firearms are showcased in our extensive displays. For more information on the NRA Museums, please check out our website at www.nramuseums.com, call (703) 267-1602 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
NRA has three firearms museums around the country and our National Firearms Museum is just down the road at 11250 Waples Mill Road in Fairfax, VA.
